INFILL DEVELOPMENTS

Where open gaps between buildings are blocked and glimpses through to greenery beyond are lost, the impact of side extensions can be especially harmful to the streetscape. We will resist any application for infilling between detached villas that will result in the creation of a terrace.

The Society will object to an application for an infill development where the scale and detailing and proportions of the proposals will have a detrimental impact on the character of the building and the streetscape.

Dominant Side Extension
This side extension is too wide, too high and looks like a box added to the side

Dominant infill
An infill should always be subservient to the main house, as right hand not left hand extension

Creation of a terrace
Gradual infilling between buildings has turned detached or semi detached villas into terraces
